Age, acidic foods, sugary foods, red wine, over 400 medications. What do these things have in common? If you said they all effect the color of your teeth, you are absolutely right. No matter how well we care for our teeth, over time, we will notice the effects that simply going through life can have on our smile. No one wants to have a yellowed smile, and a recent study actually showed that people who have whiter, brighter smiles were likely to make more money than people with dingy or stained teeth. Whatever reason you have for wanting to take your smile from beautiful to brilliant, Dr. Obholz and her dedicated staff at Aesthetic & Family Dentistry of Washington know you’ll find a whitening option that fits your schedule, budget, and needs at our practice.
We offer both in-office and at-home whitening services for our patients. In-office whitening utilizes Zoom! whitening treatment. Zoom!’s professional grade whitening gel is applied in our office, and the chemical reaction that removes stains from your teeth is accelerated using an ultraviolet light. In-office whitening takes about an hour and a half, and can lighten teeth up to ten shades.
At-home whitening is a great choice for patients who cannot commit to a full hour and half appointment, or those who would prefer to see the change in their enamel color occur gradually. Dr. Obholz will fit you with a custom whitening tray and provide prescription bleaching gel. The tray will seal in the gel so that your soft tissue is not irritated by the whitening agent. After wearing the tray for the suggested amount of time, simply remove and rinse your mouth with water. Some patients notice a change right away, but the most significant difference will be noticed after the second or third week of treatment.
Ever patient is different, and our friendly staff will work with you to ensure you fully understand the process and outcomes offered by both whitening options. Dr. Obholz will assist you in determining what whitening options will be most beneficial in creating a flawless smile. If you’re interested in further beautifying your smile, we can also help you explore other cosmetic dentistry options.
